Analysis Of Iowan s Exercise Under The Category Of...

Regarding the BRFSS data and websites, I picked to view the data about Iowan’s exercise under the category of physical activity. The latest year they have data for is 2014. The way that BRFSS collects their data is a â€Å"telephone survey that provides ongoing data on major behavioral risk factors among American adults, with an emphasis on state-level surveillance. Currently data are collected monthly in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Palau, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and Guam.†(Surveillance Systems | Physical Activity | CDC, 2016) BRFSS call people every month and record data from a certain survey they give. I chose to view the categories gender exercise and also race and ethnicity exercise. For the gender data the question asked was, â€Å"During the past month, did you participate in any physical activities?†(BRFSS Prevalence Trends Data: Home | DPH | CDC, 2016) The results were 78.8% of males said yes they participated in physical activity in the past month and 75.9% of females said yes they participated in physical activity in the past month. These numbers are very close to each other, definitely closer than I thought they would be. I was not surprised to see that men reported to be engaging in more physical activity than women because of the stereotypes. I think this difference exists because, in my opinion, more men like to be active and exercising than women.
